Coming Soon: Holy Chunks of Blood CD EP

"Rhinoceros" CD [BUY IT]

“Coley Park manage to strike a telling balance between the pastoral vibes of little England & a warm Americana-come-west coast sound rooted in the 1960s. Detailed by studied lyrics, they stir up a woozy pych sound of a high standard” 4/5 The Independent.

RHINOCEROS, title inspired by a play by Ionesco, was recorded & mixed over one year, at our own studio. It packs in the T-rex meets Roxy Music trumpet blast of “I never believed a word you said”, “Devils Tree” mixes realities in a wordy tale of loss & hope, backed with a hypnotic steel groove, straight pop from “hip hip hooray” & “Ghosts in the sun” burns out from a dark country drug song to a hail of hell like feedback. Music is supplied from melodic, fuzzy, wooshy keys, dirty jangly guitars, flutes, violins, sweet harmonies, recorder, banjo & the big pounding drum & bass of Barrow & Smith.

"The shimmering melodies, happy-sad voices and mix of Americana and Anglo pastoral-psychedelia" - Syvie Simmons Mojo

Coley Park's strength lies in that they can write a song, in fact they have written hundreds over the years. Those suit cases are beginning to creek & groan & Big Potato Records are hoping to keep up with them with a string of E.P.'s planned. Try & catch them live as this is a rare but always an inspiring shambolic treat.

"Meadow Song" a banjo driven tale of love sung by Kevin Wells, & the disenchanted "Tired Disappointed Blue" sees the Park really go town on the production, coming close to the great Lee Hazelwood for silliness, with the whole band sharing the vocal duties.
